| Physical and Chemical Properties | Sodium methanethiol is the sodium salt of methanethiol with the formula CH3SNa. Its aqueous solution is light yellow red transparent liquid, odor, for strong alkaline liquid, can be used as raw materials of pesticide, medicine, dye intermediate. It can be oxidized to dimethyl disulfide (CH3SSCH3) by iodine and analyzed accordingly. Methyl mercaptan sodium reacts with sulfuric acid to form methyl mercaptan.
